Pursuant to South Carolina Code Section 30-3-40, The Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) was created to ensure that public bodies like the Kershaw County Sheriff's Office (KCSO) operate on an open and transparent level. It allows, media, commercial businesses, or individuals to request documents and records.
How to Obtain a Freedom of Information Act Request Form
To submit a FOIA request to the Kershaw County Sheriff's Office, please follow the steps listed below:
- All FOIA requests must be submitted in writing. FOIA request forms are available at the Kershaw County Sheriff's Office located at 821 Ridgeway Road, Lugoff, SC or click here to download the PDF file.

- Please provide a detailed description of the records you are requesting. Include relevant information, such as the case report number, address of incident, date of incident, full name, date of birth, and other information. This information will aid the search for records.
