Summer Day Camps (Descriptions)

Cheer Camp

August 3, 4, 5 (Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday)

9:00 am – 12:00 pm

The Dance Place - 2639 Broad St, Camden, SC 29020

Put on by the CHS Coaches and Cheerleaders

Ages 4-12

30 spots available (first come, first serve)

$55

Includes three days of instruction, a t-shirt and performance at a high school half-time (date TBD)

The students will perform in two groups outdoors for parents on the last day (August 5th) at 11:30 am.  

Campers will need to arrive wearing a mask and will be allowed to remove it, should they chose to do so, once they are placed in their socially distance spot. There will be markers to set campers 6 feet apart from one another. Adults dropping off/picking up participants and observing their performance must wear masks at all times, per City of Camden requirements. Campers need to bring their own, personal water bottle.

 

 

Kershaw County Field of Dreams Baseball Camp

Who:               Anyone ages 6 – 13


What:             Fundamental baseball camp put on by the CHS Coaching Staff and Players

When:             Tuesday, July 7 – Friday, July 10  from 9:00 AM – Noon

Where:           Woodward Park

How Much:    The cost is $75 per person (Checks payable to KCPR).  There is a special rate of $10 off per Camper for two or more family members of the same immediate family.    

 

            Campers will receive fundamental instruction in all phases of baseball.  Each player will be drilled defensively on pitching, infield, and outfield play.  Hitting will be stressed every day.  There will also be instruction on bunting, base running, and sliding.  The campers are to bring their own gloves, bats, helmets, and water bottles.  Also, be sure that they are dressed properly with sweat pants or baseball pants for there will be scrimmages with potential for sliding.  Drinks will only be sold during break time.  Free T-shirts will be given to each camper as well.

 

 Summer Playground Program

Boys and girls ages 5-11 are invited to participate in our summer playground program. The program includes games, crafts, outside activities, field trips and more. Free lunches are provided through United Way Summer Food Program each site. Registration will be begin on June 1, 2020 to guarantee participation in the program (until maximum numbers are reached at each site- noted below.) On site registration WILL NOT BE accepted for any remaining spots @ each program site . You will have to go to the Recreation Department Main Office to register for any remaining spots.    Birth certificates may be required for proof of age. Supervisors will be on duty on these dates and sites in the county.  $25 per camper for the whole summer.

Technical Soccer Camp
Technical Soccer Camp offers a fun & nurturing environment that is conducive to learning. The curriculum will cover technical development, technical functional training, scrimmages, and includes our 1001 touches program. "A" Licensed Director of  Technical Soccer Club, LEHS Varsity Boys Coach, Alan Riches selects his staff based on many factors such as their enthusiasm, soccer knowledge and capabilities and the ability to establish relationships. Each camper is treated as an individual with unique needs. The purpose of the recreational camp is to have fun while developing soccer awareness and skills for long-term growth. Its a game to enjoy, so we use laughter as just one measuring tool. The more serious player will undergo training that will encourage decision making within a competitive environment in order to maximize potential.

 Golf Camp

Learn the fundamentals of golf or improve your skills in this camp. Matt McCarley, PGA professional.  Beginners through advance golfers are welcome.

DATES: June 15 - 18 and July 13 - 16 - Monday through Thursday
LOCATION: Camden Country Club, Knights Hill Road, Camden
AGES: 7 - 17 years old
HOURS:  8:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.
COST: $85 per camper

Pre-registration Required by Noon on June 12 or Noon on July 10

 

  Technical soccer League (4 weeks):

In partnership with Parks & Recreation, the Technical Soccer League offers a fun and nurturing environment designed to be conducive to long term development.  The purpose of the league is to have fun while developing soccer awareness and skills for long term growth.  The structure will include two nights of training and a scrimmage day focused on developing over winning.  

DATES/HOURS:  TBD
                          Tuesday and Thursday Skill Session:  6:00 P.M. - 7:30 P.M.
                          Saturday morning scrimmage games: 9:00 A.M. - 10:30 A.M.

LOCATION:  KC West Complex, 519 Whitehead Road, Lugoff

AGES:  4 - 18 years old

COST:  $80.00 per camper (includes two t-shirts)
