KERSHAW COUNTY OPERATING AT OPCON 3 FOR HURRICANE DORIAN

KERSHAW COUNTY OPERATING AT OPCON 3 FOR HURRICANE DORIAN

Kershaw County, SC –  The Kershaw County Department of Safety and Emergency Services is currently operating at OPCON 3 for Hurricane Dorian. Under OPCON 3, Kershaw County will maintain normal daily operations while actively monitoring the hurricane and participating in regular conference calls with The South Carolina Emergency Management Division.

Under the revised South Carolina Operational Conditions, only three OPCON levels now exists:

OPCON THREE – NORMAL DAILY OPERATIONS
Agencies coordinate, plan, train and exercise as warranted. Incidents are monitored by the State warning point and local emergency managers.

OPCON TWO – ENHANCED AWARENESS
A disaster or emergency is likely to affect the state. Emergency Operations Plans are implemented. The State Emergency Operations Center is partially activated if necessary.

OPCON ONE – FULL ALERT
A disaster or emergency is imminent or occurring. The State Emergency Operations Center is fully activated. All State Emergency Response Team Personnel are activated or ready to deploy.

Although the path of Hurricane Dorian is uncertain, Kershaw County urges citizens and business owners to take precaution and be prepared. The South Carolina Hurricane Guide includes preparation tips for your family and pets, important state and federal emergency phone numbers, and a list of items you should have in your Disaster Supply Kit. 

A printed version of The South Carolina Hurricane Guide is also available in the lobby of The Kershaw County Government Center (515 Walnut Street, Camden).

The Kershaw County Department of Safety and Emergency Services will continue to actively monitor Hurricane Dorian throughout the week and into the weekend as weather conditions are fluid and subject to change.
