On August 15, 2019, Gene Faulkenberry, Director of Safety and Emergency Services, presented a framed thank you letter to the owners (Kenny White and Patti Kelly) of The River Deck Store and Grill.  Below please find the contents of the thank you letter:

On behalf of the Kershaw County Safety and Emergency Management Division, I would like to extend a sincere thank you to the Beaver Creek community for their kindness and generosity during a recent search-and-rescue on Lake Wateree.

The two-day search-and-rescue involved over 30 personnel from Camden-Kershaw County Rescue Squad, Pine Grove Fire Department, Beaver Creek Fire Department, South Carolina Department of Natural Resources, Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office, Fairfield County Rescue Squad, Kershaw County EMS, Kershaw County Coroner’s Office, and Kershaw County 911/Dispatch.

The generosity shown to our team was a true testament to the caring individuals that make up our All-America City. Our team was fed lunch and dinner by the owners of the River Deck Store and Grill and patrons of the business kindly donated money for snacks and drinks during our search-and-rescue efforts.  These generous acts allowed for personnel to continue their job without interruption.

Kershaw County is truly a community who believes in helping others.
