Essential Tasks:

Under the guidance of the Planning Director, plans, organizes, and directs all programs, functions, and activities of Land Development and provides leadership in growth management planning and land use development within unincorporated Kershaw County. Is responsible for supervising and overseeing the operations and activities of personnel involved in administering the land development, zoning, and flood prevention programs. Implement the various goals and objectives of county residents in areas of land use, development, and zoning; work with County Council members and Planning Commission members; coordinate with other departments, jurisdictions and agencies; make recommendations and develop and implement ordinances; supervise, manage, and prepare reviews, updates, and amendments to County ordinances; administer subdivision regulations; attend scheduled day and evening meetings; explain policies, procedures and regulations to the public, developers, business organizations, contractors, architects etc.; present potential problems and make recommendations to address such problems; attend meetings, conferences, workshops, and training sessions and reviews materials to remain current in assigned work areas; perform other job related duties as assigned.

 

 

 

 

 

Education and Experience:

This position requires a Bachelor's Degree, emphasis in public administration, planning or a related field is encouraged; supplemented with three (3) or more years of directly related work experience in land development, zoning or a related field, OR any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the job. The ability to perform work with speed, accuracy, and attention to detail while effectively communicating with coworkers, supervisors, and the public is essential. Must possess a valid driver’s license and a good driving record. Pre-employment drug screening and a satisfactory background check is also required. Excellent state benefits.

 

Special Certifications and Licenses:

Must possess a valid state driver’s license.
