Wastewater Operator I

Work Schedule:                        Monday – Friday, also to include working weekends and holidays. Work on a 24 hr on-call rotating shift.

 Location:                                   Kershaw County Wastewater Treatment Plant

Summary:                                 Wastewater Operator will operate a 2 million gallons a day wastewater plant to insure that all DHEC and EPA requirements are being met. Will be doing sewer disconnects;       handling customer complaints and routine inspections of sewer lift stations.                                                 

 

Minimum requirements:       Must have a high school diploma or GED.  Must possess and maintain a valid     SC Class “D” Driver’s License and have an acceptable driving record. Must have a D level license in wastewater treatment or higher.  Must have or be able to obtain a license in Voluntary Wastewater collections. Electrical experience is a plus but not required.

                                                  

Responsibilities:                       Candidate will be required to be on a 24 hour rotating call list for emergencies. Knowledge of personal computer equipment preferred with skill in the use of Microsoft Office, word processing and    spreadsheet software programs as well as data entry skills. May be required to work additional hours, weekends, holidays, emergency situations, etc., as needed in order to accomplish assigned work. Must work in a team environment to help operate Kershaw County’s sewer system. Candidate will operate a new SBR wastewater treatment plant. Will be required to pull samples to be tested required by NPDES permit. Must be able to perform preventive maintenance on equipment and be able to lift at least 50 lbs. Other duties include sewer pump station checks, maintenance of grounds at WWTP and pump stations, responding to customer complaints, help enforce the county’s pretreatment program as well as the FOG program.
