KERSHAW COUNTY URGES CITIZENS AND PROPERTY OWNERS TO TAKE PRECAUTION DURING TROPICAL STORM MICHAEL

KERSHAW COUNTY URGES CITIZENS AND PROPERTY OWNERS TO TAKE PRECAUTION DURING TROPICAL STORM MICHAEL

 

Kershaw County, SC – As Tropical Storm Michael travels through Kershaw County today, Kershaw County urges citizens and property owner to take precaution:

  • Stay off roads to allow emergency and utility services to travel to calls
  • Frequently tune into your local media and regional news stations for the latest weather information
  • Write down your utility provider’s phone number in case you lose power and need to report an outage. DO NOT CALL 911 TO REPORT AN OUTAGE. 911 should only be called for emergencies only.
  • If you have to leave your home and drive, avoid water on the roads and do not drive around barricades
  • Review The SC Hurricane Guide located on the “Hurricane Michael Emergency Banner” on the County’s website at www.kershaw.sc.gov
  • To report debris in the roadways:
    • SCDOT – 803.432.4358 (state roads)
    • Kershaw County Public Works – 803.425.7191 (county roads)
  • Tie down or relocated outside items that could easily blow away

Kershaw County is still expected to receive four to six inches of rainfall with 25-40 MPH sustained winds and up to 50 MPH wind gusts beginning early Thursday morning.
